OVERVIEW

  • The Bachelor's degree in Optometry Technology is a specialized program offering comprehensive education and training in optometry. It aims to prepare students for roles as optometric technicians or assistants. Through hands-on training and clinical experience, students develop practical skills in assisting optometrists with patient examinations, conducting preliminary eye tests, preparing patients for procedures, and managing optical instruments and equipment.

 

OBJECTIVES

  •  
  • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, such as visual acuity testing, retinoscopy, tonometry, autorefractor, perimetry and lensometry.
  • Work as optometric technicians or assistants in optometry clinics, eye care centers, optical dispensaries, and  ophthalmology practices.
  • Assist ophthalmologist in providing comprehensive eye care services to patients, including vision testing, eyeglass and contact lens fittings, and ocular health assessments.

 

PEDAGOGY

  • The pedagogical approach employed is characterized by its holistic nature, emphasizing a focused methodology that underscores the significance of scenario-based practical applications utilizing cutting-  edge tools and techniques. There will be comprehensive lab work requiring demonstrated competency to receive a satisfactory grade.
